You gotta wonder what I had for dinner, no?

I had a dream the other night. I guess that’s not terribly unusual, but for me what is unusual is that I actually remembered the dream. (I almost never do.) When I woke up in the morning it was so clear, and I was disappointed because I probably will never find out how it ended.

I dreamed we adopted a small monkey.

In the dream, my husband and I were traveling back from somewhere unspecified, and when we landed at the Philadelphia airport, we deplaned and were walking through the concourse when we saw a small monkey. She was just kind of sitting on the concourse, alone. When we asked someone who looked “official,” we were told that this small monkey, named Katie, had been abandoned at the airport and needed someone to take her home with them. We volunteered.

She was pretty calm at first, but when she heard we were adopting her she got a bit rambunctious and began hopping around a bit. Luckily, there was a kiosk farther down on the concourse that sold cute collars/harnesses and leashes, so we were able to purchase one for her. Happily, we didn’t need to clothe her because she had a cute little pink cardigan on that had green accents.  She was good to go.

I don’t know why we were traveling without our children, and there was some concern when we finally got to the car that we didn’t have the appropriate car seat for Katie. Fortunately, a search of the parking lot turned up the appropriate seat and so we set off for home.

Then I woke up.

Days later, I’m still wondering:

  •  Why the hell were we in the Philadelphia airport? Yikes. Philly’s the airport that one chooses when one wants to be late/be canceled/be aggravated.
  • Why named Katie? I’m not a huge nickname fan — any monkey I’d adopt would be called Kathleen.
  • A kiosk in the airport for collars and leashes for monkeys? I’m thinking there’s a business plan lurking within this dream somewhere.
  • Pink and green cardigan? Did my subconscious get hijacked by Lilly Pulitzer?

Going to lay off the Asian lettuce wraps for a little while. Perhaps all this healthy eating I’m doing is messing with my mind.
